O+ Festival returns to Kingston, NY October 11-13, 2024. Submissions are now open for artists, musicians and writers looking to participate in exchange for health and wellness services. Creators of all genres, mediums and modalities are invited to apply through Submittable, free of charge, until April 28th at opositive.submittable.com/kingston.

Each year, un- and under-insured artists and musicians create and perform at the multi-venue festival in exchange for services from volunteer health practitioners, including doctors, dentists and complementary care providers. O+ calls this exchange “the art of medicine for the medicine of art.” Participants will also, for the first time in the organization’s history, have ongoing access to the new year round O+ Exchange Clinic.

Recent O+ Alum Gregory Stovetop said, “I didn’t understand what O+ was until I actually played the festival. I was amazed by the amount of services I got,” referring to his time at the Artists’ Clinic. “I just took one day. I started with my teeth cleaning, I got a chiropractic adjustment, I got a massage… “Having that access alone was so huge…I don’t even know what the dollar amount equivalent to that would be.”

Each year, committees consisting of O+ Alum, industry professionals, and community members representing different practices, identities, and perspectives are brought together to curate a diverse and inclusive lineup. Submissions are welcome from all genres, locations and levels of professional development. All artists must apply to participate in the 14th Annual O+ Festival through Submittable. Music at O+ Festival is a cross-genre experience and any/all styles of musical performance are encouraged to apply. All sounds and musicians are welcome! And the much beloved literary showcase, WO+rd, offers an opportunity for writers and performers, working in all language-based forms, to share their work with an intimate audience and in community with supportive peers.

Since its inception in 2010, O+ Festival has provided over 5200 health/wellness services and more than 1450 dental services to creative professionals in exchange for them sharing their work with the public. During the 2023 O+ Festival, 79% of all participating visual and performing artists and 70% of all musicians were residents of the Hudson Valley. While O+ welcomes artists and musicians from all over the country and beyond.
