 "About all a human being is anyway is a hoping machine." Woodie GuthrieHope Machine-the band-was born at a 2003 Woody Guthrie hootenanny hosted by Woody's granddaughter Anna Canoni. It's core members are Fred Gillen Jr., Steve Kirkman, and Eric Puente. They rarely do a show without a special guest or two sitting in and their performances are true celebrations of community, spontaneity, and freedom. Their debut CD March, released in the Winter of 2006/2007, was recorded live-in-the-studio and received folk airplay all over the East Coast. The follow-up CD, Big Green Hope Machine, features some of Gillen and Kirkman's finest songs and great special guests. The CD has gotten great reviews and airplay all over the world. Hope Machine is always evolving, but the message remains one of hope, peace, and freedom.
